Hello There 👋, it's Sellab!

I am a Cybersecurity & Networking Specialist from California, holding certifications such as CompTIA A+, Security+, ISC2 CC, and Azure Fundamentals. I’m always eager to expand my expertise and plan to pursue additional certifications in the near future. I love sharing what I know about penetration testing, network security, various IT topics, and personal projects.

I'm active on LinkedIn and GitHub, where I regularly post updates on my work and projects.

Some of my recent projects include building a website from scratch using Astro and deploying it through Cloudflare Pages, as well as setting up and securing a NAS server in line with NIST 800-53 standards. Additionally, I’ve worked on a Wazuh deployment for threat detection and response, managed virtual environments with Proxmox, and integrated smart home devices with Home Assistant.

Beyond my recent projects, I have developed extensive hands-on experience in various areas of cybersecurity and networking. This includes securing network infrastructures, deploying firewalls, and performing in-depth penetration testing to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities. One of my key strengths is setting up isolated environments, such as NAS systems compliant with NIST 800-53 standards, along with configuring VPNs to ensure secure remote access.

Currently, I am working towards earning my CCNA and CompTIA Network+ certifications, which are required for my upcoming transfer to San Jose State University (SJSU). At SJSU, I plan to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology with a concentration in Computer Network System Management. These certifications and academic progression are key steps in building a solid foundation for my career in networking and cybersecurity.

My academic journey won’t stop there. After completing my degree at SJSU, I aim to continue my studies by pursuing a Master of Information and Cybersecurity (MICS) at the University of California, Berkeley. This will allow me to deepen my expertise and focus on advanced cybersecurity strategies, preparing me for leadership roles in the industry.

I’m always experimenting with new technologies and frameworks, which keeps me on the cutting edge of IT advancements. For instance, using Proxmox Virtual Environment (PVE) has allowed me to efficiently manage virtual machines and containers, optimizing resource use. I also have hands-on experience with Wazuh, an open-source security solution, enabling me to monitor threats and respond to incidents in real time.

Additionally, I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and insights with the broader IT community. Whether through personal projects like automating smart home systems using Home Assistant or developing websites with Astro, I continually seek to apply my skills in practical ways. My commitment to lifelong learning and collaboration drives me to stay engaged and contribute to the cybersecurity and IT landscape.
